Bespoke E-learning Courses
As an Instructional Designer at Omniplex, I was leading the creative design of bespoke e-learning courses and I oversaw their development from beginning to the end. I was working with a varied client base and a talented content development team to create exciting e-learning journeys which aimed to push the boundaries of traditional learning.
This page presents some of these courses and instructional videos, along with storyboards for their creation. I was also involved in project scoping, needs analysis and sales calls, so I am attaching some of the proposals I worked on.

Let’s start with some e-learning courses…
These first examples are from a suite of staff induction modules that we developed for Thames Water. We came up with the idea of Thames Town, where new employees embark on an exploration of content to learn more about who Thames Water are, what they do and their history.
About Thames Town
The learners make 9 stops in Thames town, visiting different buildings and parts of it. Each building is associated with a specific topic/module and the staff have to complete all modules linearly, while interacting with the virtual space. For example, the first module takes place in the town hall, where the learners get introduced to who Thames Water are. Therefore, we ask them to sign in to ‘enter’ the building at the beginning and then we take them on a virtual walk around the different rooms of the town hall. We provide them with a day plan/agenda, so that they know what to expect in their learning journey. When the module is over, the learners sign out and head to another destination within the town.
Their next stop is, Module 2, which is about health and safety, so it takes place at a Thames Water depot. The learner again is invited to travel to the depot, speak to people and interact with them. They are given a floor plan, so that they know where they should go, and they are invited to play mini-games like ‘spot the hazards’ or ‘dress the model with the correct protective equipment’.
There’s a lot more to discuss about this suite of modules, so please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Thames Water Manager Essentials
While at Omniplex, I also designed some training for managers, for which the brief was not as creative. ‘Managing Performance Development Reviews‘ was one of those modules. It contained a lot of important content, which we tried to pass to managers in a structured but playful way. All of the Thames Water courses were designed to be accessible with assistive voiceover and other back-end accessibility features.

Other e-learning modules
Sales Training Simulation

This is a standalone module made for RS Components, for both existing and new sales staff. It is used for either induction or refreshers. I had designed this an a hidden objects game, where learners explore scenes to reveal content. I have scripted this module, with some input from the SME on the interactive scenario. I also storyboarded all of the exciting instructional videos.

Manager Training Course

This part of a suite of courses for managers at Veolia. In this course you collect pieces of the hammer, earning badges as you are going through the module. There are also interactive activities and real-life scenarios.

School Pools Maintenance Course

This was very quickly put together for a client who had 17 courses to launch within a month. It is a course for Responsible Persons in schools, who look after the premises and ensure compliance with standards. This was an interactive way to view content and a good an example of a Rise Course.

Let me show you some of my storyboards for instructional videos…
Fitch Learning Storyboards
Fitch Learning has an online academy for financial/accountancy topics. I worked on a very tight deadline to turn a series of long video transcripts (3,000-12,000 words) from words into visual slides. These were then animated line by line, as the background lecture notes of Fitch Learning’s video lectures.
About the brief
The brief was very narrow in scope, and each script section had to be translated into one PowerPoint slide, irrespectively of how much content there was! The colour scheme and slide dimensions were also inherited by the brand guidelines, while the information had to be presented from left to right and from top to bottom. Please note that even though you will see the full slide, not all of it appeared at once in the video. Each segment of the slide was animated alongside the script, until the slide was complete.
I invite you to take a look at the script first before you see how I translated it into visuals.

Other Fitch Learning Storyboards
In addition to the large scripts above, I also worked on the development of short educational videos, which got built into Rise Courses for Fitch Learning. Below you can see some samples of these video storyboards and their finalised videos.

Finally, I developed creative ideas and robust learning proposals…
After consulting with clients and scoping the learning requirements, I was involved in the creation of proposals. My role was to come up with an exciting learning journey which would be founded on solid learning theory principles. Here are two extracts of the final proposals we sent out.
Cyber Security Game

This was a trailer video that we sent out along with a proposal for an e-learning cyber security game. The learner would assume a role of responsibility and recognise cyber security threats with real consequences.
A global proposal

This was a proposal that was put together for a client and was presented in a meeting via Prezi. The image here displays the main dashboard, from where the students would go on to an exploration of content. They would get information via scenarios, simulations and other interactive activities.
